Fair City's Mac walks the Red Carpet!


Maclean Burke (Mac) is best known for playing Damien Halpin in Ireland's top rated soap Fair City. He hit our TV screens in 1998 and has been a popular character in and around 'Carrigstown' ever since.

Mac began acting at a very young age and has appeared in not one, but two defining movies of the last two decades. At thirteen he landed his first professional role in Jim Sheridan's award winning film 'In the name of the Father' starring Daniel Day Lewis and in the summer of 1998 Mac had the good fortune to work with Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks on 'Saving Private Ryan'. More recently his movie roles include David Gleeson's 'The Front Line' and the TV Drama 'Rough Diamond' to name but a few.

Mac has been on many celebrity reality shows including ‘Celebrity Your a Star' in 2006 and ‘No frontier’. 2010 saw Mac training alongside world champion Barry Mc Guigan and two time world heavy weight champion 'Terrible' Tim Witherspoon for RTE's 'Lord of the Rings'. Other TV Appearances have included TV3’s 'The Morning Show’, RTE's ‘The Afternoon Show’, ‘Seoige’, and ‘Breaking Ball’. Mac has been a guest on several radio shows and has also been profiled in many of Ireland's top broad sheets and tabloids.

Mac has received many nominations which have included ‘Best Soap Couple’ in 2007. ‘Best Male Soap Star’ 2008 and ‘Best Soap Family’ 2010 in the ‘Walkers TV Now Awards’.

A tireless charity worker, Mac has raised thousands of pounds for charities over the years including climbing Ben Nevis for The Irish Cancer Society and raising over 130,000 Euro. More recntly he helped promote the Baby Max Wings Of Love charity who buy essential life saving machines for children's hospitals.

Mac is the founder and Director of ‘The Big Idea’ drama school.
